The Little Voices, 2013
13”H x 23” W x 30” D
Textiles, wire, foam, fabrics, found objects, yarn
I created this piece about the things that parents say or teach
their children over and over that seems to become ingrained in your brain. I
still hear the little voices of my parents in my ears during certain situations
that pull it back from my memory. This behavior is the same in many animals as well. Crows, for example, squawk loudly and carry on to let
their offspring know what is dangerous (cats, cars, people with shotguns-yes I found this in my research) Eventually the kids don’t forget. We all learn this way. Throughout this body of work, my Mother is represented by beige and my Father by blue.
